How I got started: I always liked to have goals that I am reaching for. When I turned 40 I ran the Chicago Marathon with two of my friends, Robin Black and Maylene Denby.

After that I wanted another area of fitness/exercise to focus on. My trainer at that time , Davey Hild, encouraged me to give competitive bodybuilding a try. I was hooked after my first competition. It was about 2 years into my competing that I met my current trainer, Perry Black, at a competition. Since Perry has been competing himself for over 25 years, he has been very helpful in my training and diet.
